Upcycled Bathroom Caddy

 

I’ve desperately been needing a place to store my jewelry. Its been living in a plastic baggy since I got to Texas. So I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for the perfect item to upcycle while out thrifting. I finally found the perfect thing! It was a sweet little bathroom caddy that practically jumped into my basket at the thrift store. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it :)

The (almost) before picture. I was measuring my poultry wire. Wasn’t until I’d attached it with some silver wire I had on hand that I realized I didn’t have a before pic :s

I cut some felt pieces to fit the basket on the top and hot glued them together, making this a no sew project :) Then I took it out into the garage and spray painted the heck out of it. We had a “soft sesame” color in the garage from some of Mules previous projects and it works perfectly.

(Sorry for the bad lighting. It was really late and the flourecent over head lights are brutal for lighting :s)

I put the felt “basket” back in and added my rings and smaller earrings, hung the larger earrings on the poultry wire and necklaces over the “arms”

It turned out to be exactly what I wanted and needed. I’m in Love! :D

Keep it Simple Sunday

 

This is Mules weekend off, and he’s not feeling to hot. So its chicken noodle soup to the rescue :)

Hopefully with some rest he’ll be good as new tomorrow. In the mean time, I’m getting some cleaning done. I guess that’s a good thing.

Little Lovlies

 

Since I am 99% sure I won’t be having a booth this weekend due to the forecasted torrential rains, I thought I’d show you some of the fun things I’ve been working on lately.

 

These adorable little guys are “Ouchy Owls” perfect for when your child gets an Ouchy that a cold pack will help. Each one is filled with 3/4 of a cup of rice. I’ll probably be doing a tutorial on how I make my version of these Ouchy Owls soon

 

I’ve got a few different hat styles available now. Cute ducky's and Flower hats available in whatever color combo you can come up with.

 

I also started making headbands. Originally I was just going to make a couple for me… but they’re so fun to make that I went a little nuts. These are just 4 of the 30 I made for my booth. I’ll be posting them in my etsy shop tonight.

The revamped plan for this weekend is to work my tail off on the house. Mule is off this weekend and we are hoping to redo the kitchen flooring, move around a bunch of furniture, organize the house better and maybe get some much needed painting done.

Since I’ve got so much made already, I don’t have to do too much to get ready for the Craft Shows coming up and Novembers Second Monday Trade Days. I will of course keep making things to sell, but its going to be nice to take a break from the crazy pace of the past few weeks and do something for our house. Not to mention wedding stuff. Invitations are at the top of my list for next week.
