I am ____ Right Now - Tuesday Ten

I am _____ right now:
I am – Full! Just ate some leftovers :) So yummy
I wonder – What Mule is up to at work and if he’s warm enough. Its cold tonight in Texas!
I see – Our very first Christmas tree! Its looking a little empty, but I’ve got some plans to make more ornaments.
I want – To win a home makeover!
I pretend - That I am not thousands of miles away from most of my friends and family. :(
I worry - That I have been forgotten by people back home.
I cry – When I think about missing Christmas at my Mom’s, when I watch sappy, romantic movies, when I look at my engagement ring and remember Mule proposing. I cry a lot!
I hope – That Mule and I can find a bedroom paint color that we can both agree on!
I dream - That one day I can own and operate my own vintage/thrift/retail store.
I feel – tired and sore, but in a good way. I’m working hard to make some healthy changes in my life, haven’t seen physical results yet, but I know change is happening!

Thrift Store Finds!

If there is one thing I love about this small town I live in its all the thrift stores there are around here! There are at least 5 within a 5 minute drive of each other. One of my favorites is the Hospice of Rural Texas here in Bowie. Its one of the biggest and has some of the best finds :)

On a recent trip I scored some goodies :)

I found some old hymnals, an ancient dictionary, and some sheet music. All perfect for some project ideas I’ve been planning for a while.

I also found these little lovelies! Its had to tell in this picture, but there is some gorgeous applique lase roses on the white sweater. I’m torn with what to do with it. Pillow? Stocking? There are so many options! I’m pretty sure I know what I am doing with the black lace shirt. Hopefully sometime next week I’ll have that project complete :)

What I am Thankful For…

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to take a moment to mention some of the many things that I am thankful for.

  1. My Mister. Mule came into my life in a whirlwind, swept me off my feet and made me the happiest woman on the face of the planet. Even though there are days I’d happily beat him with a 2x4, I wouldn’t trade one second! Even in the toughest moments he knows exactly what to do to calm me down and make me smile. He is who he is and I so thankful for that!100_0105
  2. My Family. Even though they are thousands of miles away, they still brighten my day. I’m always thrilled when I actually catch the all at home and get to chat for a while. For a few moments its almost like I never moved away.
  3. Old Friends. Some of my closest friends have made an effort to stay in touch and it makes being away from “Home” so much more bearable. I am so thankful for the texts, phone calls, and Skype dates :)
  4. New Friends. I probably would have gone stark raving mad by now if I hadn’t met so many amazing people both here in Texas, and online. I love my new friends!
  5. Freedom. I am so thankful to live in a country that values freedom so highly. I am also thankful to have the freedom to be creative and use the skills that I’ve been gifted with.
  6. A Great Church. I’m thrilled to have found such an amazing church family here in Texas. I knew the first Sunday that I walked in that I had found a new, homey place to worship and grow.

Those are the “serious” things. Onto some of the random things…

  1. Chocolate
  2. Coffee
  3. Books! I Love reading!
  4. the Texas heat :) No more Snow!
  5. Glue Guns! God bless whoever invented them!
  6. Small towns with Wal-Mart's in them. Otherwise I’d have gone crazy by now :)
  7. Turkey!!

Time to get eating! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Be Thankful Every Day

Is it just me or is life moving faster and faster these days?

As one of my “Thanksgiving Resolutions” I am purposing to be more thankful on a daily basis, not just on the Holiday that calls for it.

Everyday I am going to write one thing that I am thankful for before I go to sleep. I created a special book to write and store them in :)

etsy 055

This is the cover. The printed art is from ILoveItAll (thanks a million Monika!).

etsy 057etsy 058etsy 059etsy 060etsy 056

Some of the pages I’ve created. There a a whole bunch more (I need space to write for the next 365 days after all), but these are some of my favorites :) I used a lot of bits and pieces from scrapbooking projects and some pages from an old book. I’ll probably be making more pages in a couple weeks and will be sure to show them off :)

Once a week I will be doing a post on the things that I am Thankful for. I think we all need to be reminded to be a little more grateful.

There is so much that we have to be thankful for!

Oh the things I do on Saturday Night!!

How was your weekend? Did you spend it relaxing and getting ready for Thanksgiving?

I didn’t :-/ But that’s Ok!

I spent my weekend redoing the kitchen floor! And while I am Ridiculously happy with the results, I have aches in muscles I didn’t know I had. And I rolled my ankle. And we stayed up until 2 am Saturday and Sunday. And I am out of coffee. And really want to go back to bed, but I can’t.

Ok! Enough whining… onto the pictures of my floor :D

the floor 003the floor 004

That is the icky floor that had been around for 30+ years. It was AWEFUL!! It was so old it was cracking and breaking off the floor. Every time I swept, more of the tiles would come up. Not to mention it was almost a mustard color with age (Hard to tell in the pics though)

the floor 005the floor 002

the floor 006

My Handsome Handy man hard at work :) We took turns ripping up the tiles. Took about 5 hours to get the tiles up. Some popped right off the floor in one piece and others were so stuck on that they came off a tiny, little piece at a time.

the floor 007the floor 008the floor 009

The Lovely FINISHED floor! I love it! I do! I actually got down on my tired knees and kissed it! It makes such a difference in the kitchen. This house is old, and as I’ve mentioned before in DIRE need of some renovations and Love. This floor was at the top of the list though.

We replaced the old vinyl tile with new vinyl tan and cream colored tiles from Lowes. In total we spent $70 to cover a 14x10 foot space, I just happened to like the least expensive tiles the best :), and $40 for trim and room transitions (the piece of wood or metal that covers the edge of flooring from one room to the next. I learned that at Lowes!).

I find myself oddly excited about sweeping and even a little giddy at the idea of mopping! Oh the joy!

I *Heart* Mail

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE getting mail. Even bills are a little exciting… until I open them. There is something so magical about an unknown package that had your name on it.

Recently I receive TWO such magical packages on the same day!

001

I had an idea of what was in them, but I still felt like a kid on Christmas morning :)

003004

The fist box had 2 bracelets that I purchased from Ordinary Hero. I’m in Love with the chunky wooden bracelet and I wore the white with pink text today while I ran errands :)

005

In the second envelope there were all kinds of goodies that I ordered from I Love It All on etsy. I’ll be showing you what I created on Monday or Tuesday. I mentioned to  her what I’d be making with the goodies and she included some prints that matched my theme! Monika, you’re an angel :)

Happy Saturday!
