Sneak Peak

I keep talking about all the things I’ve been making for Second Monday’s Market days… so I thought I’d give you another little sneak peak Smile

Just a little taste Smile You’ll get to see most of the goodies after next weekend.

As for today, I’m taking a break from working my tail off to take care of my sick man and do some baking for my church’s bake sale in support of a local pregnancy center.

Happy Weekend!!

Striped Envelope Pillow Cover

This was another one of my stash busting projects this month. It was perfect for using up lots of bits and pieces of fabric that I had left over from other projects.

I started by selecting fabrics that I thought would go well together. I wanted a some what cohesive look. Next I cut the fabric in to 2.5 inch wide strips of varying length.

I sewed the ends of the strips together to make 17 inch long strips. Laying them out on my work space I figured out where I wanted which pieces (I didn’t want the same pattern/color touching). Next sew the strips together. I was covering a 15 x 15 inch pillow so I ended up sewing together about 20ish strips. I allowed for 3/8th’s of an inch seam allowance.

You will need to hem the last strip on each side. Then with right sides together, you’ll need to fold the ends to meet in the middle.

Make sure that there is an overlap of 1.5 to 2 inches so that the back of the pillow is covered.

With a half inch seam allowance, sew the ends of the pillow cover shut and turn right side out.

Cover your pillow with your new cover and enjoy!

Mule loves this pillow! He usually snuggles (can you say “snuggles” about a grown man?) up with it when we watch TV together on his nights off. It definitely looks fabulous on the leather chair :)

An evening at the Lake

After our delicious, but simple meal of BBQ’d salmon, Mule and I went for a drive and ended up at the lake.lake 001-1lake 019-1lake 007-1lake 031-1lake 048-1100_0314-1100_0318-1

This is one of my favorite places in Texas. And hopefully, the weather will be pleasant and we can have our wedding ceremony here :D

Crochet. Sew. Crochet Some More.

And then do some laundry and dishes, and then back to crocheting Smile

Its been a busy week.

These are just a few sneak peaks at all the goodies I’ve been busy creating. I’ve got a bunch of other fun things up my sleeves, but I’ve had no time to take pictures yet.

Not to worry I’ll be back soon with pictures from our drive to the lake this weekend and a few more sneak peak pictures.

Keep It Simple Sunday

Grilled Salmon on the BBQ :-)

Its hard to beat some good grilled salmon. Mule made a simple rub of garlic, Tony’s seasoning and a dash of lemon pepper. Add your favorite veggies and a salad. SO GOOD!!

Best. Week. Ever!

This is shaping up to be such an amazing week! Despite being sicky icky Tuesday and Wednesdays (I have Mule to thank for that), I’ve gotten quite a bit ready for the fall fair I am participating in. And to top it off I’ve been featured SmileNot once, but TWICE!

My guest post for The T-Shirt Diaries is up today, I was featured there yesterday and the Lovely Kim from Seven Thirty Three (one of my favorite blogs) featured my Ruffled Burlap Wreath today Smile

Life. Is. Good.

I’ll be posting pictures of some of the stuff I’ve gotten done this weekend. I love feeling productive!

I did it! I think…

I offered to do some guest posts for some fellow bloggers of the next few weeks and the first one is coming up on Friday. That means that I need a “Button”. I guess this is the kick in the pants that I needed.

It took me far longer than I thought it would, but I finally got it. It looks like this…

See it over there? Isn’t it pretty? LOL

Its kinda basic, but it does the job until I have some more spare time to get more creative.

A big thanks to Oikology and Blogging with Amy for their tutorials

Now will someone please test it out? Hehehe

Oh the things I need to do…

So I’ve decided to participate in a local monthly market.  Second Monday Trade Days usually have THOUSANDS of people visit! That means I have A LOT to do. Originally I was going to focus on making jewelry, but after see all the jewelry vendors there, I’ve decided to focus on things that I make that are a little more me and a not so common at the market. The biggest “collection” of items I want to feature is the animal hats that I make.

These are the most popular ones that I make. I’m hoping to have 7-10 in each style of hat. That equals a TON of crocheting.

I’m also going to have some headbands that I’ve made. I am planning on making more since they are cute and quick to make.

If I find time, I’m also hoping to have some totes, some covered note books, Owl Taggies, regular Taggies and if I have time (that’s a BIG “if”) a baby quilt or 2.

I have 18 days… and a lot to do. Please forgive me if I don’t post everyday for the next couple weeks Smile
